The finished product of a Media Intensive Program is a short video, animation or film (depending on which focus you choose). While here you will work with three other students to come up with a story idea, write a screenplay, storyboard it & plan your shots, shoot (light, direct, record sound, etc.), digitize the footage, edit it using a non-linear editing system, produce a soundtrack with our composer/musician, produce credits, and finally attend the world premier screening of your piece on Saturday afternoon. As well, you will have attended seminars on media literacy, visual story telling and various technical workshops for camera, lighting, sound. For programs other than Drama (fictional video), the process differs slightly but is still as hands-on with a finished piece as your end product. After the screening, you will leave with a video of your and everyone else's finished pieces for the week, so you can hold your own screening when you get home.
Students learn all aspects of making the kind of film they've chosen to work on. They work in small teams and share responsibilities. We use a mentoring system that allows students to forge ahead with confidence. Our teacher/student ratio is excellent: we have approximately one instructor/mentor for every 5 students, as well as camp support staff.
