This year, we present you with a preview of products and solutions that will debuted at IBC 2008, as we have with NAB. IBC is an international exhibition that offers exceptional benefits on the latest technology and equipment to industry professional involved in broadcasting and media. It will be held from September 12 to 16 this year at the RAI Centre in Amsterdam, Netherlands.


Matthews Studio Equipment (MSE) presents the RED Dolly, which is a small extremely maneuverable camera platform that can be very beneficial for a camera operator. According to MSE, it is easier to navigate than a wheelchair, and within moments of rigging time, a Steadicam operator would have a wide range of movement capabilities. The dolly weighs in at a mere 119 pounds and measures 24-feet wide by 33-inch long.

Shotoku Broadcast Systems has become a world-leading supplier of remote camera systems and camera support equipment for the broadcast market showcasing several products this year. The first is a compact yet dynamic TRP-100 fully robotic studio pedestal pushes the boundaries of traditional robotic camera controls. Next, is the TG-27 that combines small size with a high payload capacity and smooth control. The compact unit is ideal for remote camera application where small unobtrusive cameras are required, making it ideally suited for large auditorium type of applications. The company will also be exhibiting the TG-18 and TG-19 pan-and-tilt heads that are known for great quality of movement under remote control, as well as manual operation at the touch of a button. Clear-Com Communication Systems (Vitec Group brand) is previewing its FreeSpeak® 2.0, which was known previously as the FreeSpeak10. It features an improved beltpack capacity, Interrupted Feedback (IFB) functionality, and enhanced group operations between beltpacks, party-lines, and other external inputs. Also to debut, is the V-Series IP, IP-enabled V-Series user control panels, which allow users to connect their Eclipse V-Series user control panels to the Eclipse Matrix frame. Additionally, Clear-Com will be making several other new product announcements during the show.

Holophone will be introducing revolutionized surround recording technology during its press conference on September 12 at 3:00 p.m. at their stand.

Nucomm will be debuting its new 7 Series HD-ready product line, its Messenger IP Media Gateway – Native file transfer system, which enables broadband IP connectivity between an ENG/SNG truck or OB van and the broadcast studio through integration with the existing broadcaster digital transmission infrastructure, as well as its CC-1 Wireless Camera Control unit.Stand 1.A30 - www.nucomm.com


RF Central will be rolling out its new RFX-PRX-II portable handheld COFDM monitor/receiver, a lightweight palm-sized receiver available in 2 GHz and 5.8 GHz. It is packaged in a compact housing that spans just 16 x 12 x 3.8 centimeters. RF Central will also be presenting its new RMR-X6-II six-way COFDM diversity receiver, which offers superior diversity reception with new cutting-edge features including On Screen Display of stream data, Ethernet monitoring for remote control access and IP encapsulation for Internet broadcast. They will be exhibiting the RF Central’s NLL-II 5.8 GHz portable digital microwave link, which offers both balanced microphone and line level inputs via switch selectable XLR connectors on both the transmitter and receiver.

Sennheiser will be presenting the new MKH 800 TWIN microphone is said to have good resolution, a natural warm sound, and extraordinary neutrality and transparency. The compact microphone comes in nickel color and dark grey.Stand 8.C51 - www.sennheiser.com


Quantel will be standing out with its list of post, DI, and broadcast products exhibiting. There is word of extensive new developments that will boost workflow, connectivity, and integration, all to be exposed at their booth. Stand 7.A21 - www.quantel.com


Ross Video will be debuting new products along with progressions on their existing products. The new Vision QMD/X line of production switchers, a compact 3RU QMD chassis, a new version 7.0 software of the market-leading OverDrive Automated Production Control System, a new version 3.0 software of SoftMetal Video Servers, the openGear terminal equipment platform which will introduce a new 2RU 20-slot rackframe, and the expansion of DashBoard Control System with the addition of DB-VIEW.  Stand 9.430 - www.rossvideo.com


Harris will be providing interoperable workflows based on open standards, integrated technologies, and innovative solutions, allowing broadcasters to move content and information easily on products, systems, and facilities. Harris’ claim to be an “Industry First!” is a compact, solid-state TV transmitter for worldwide standards and MobileTV, a broadcast video server to support 1080p, a three Gb/s audio/video synchronizer, and an embedded audio processing router.


EditShare will be hosting a special press briefing on their stand during IBC 2008.  Founder Andy Liebman plans to discuss the company’s philosophy behind their highly-popular workflow-engineered shared storage solutions. He will present the brand new “Complete Collaboration” product line, which is designed to provide the dimensions and depth of workflow-engineered media management tools from start to finish.

 So there you have it, an array of new and enhanced products that will also be exhibited for IBC attendees to get first-hand demonstrations on.
