Page 4 of 4 Adobe Systems’ Premiere Pro CS3 NLE software has now added support for Panasonic P2 solid state recording. Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 is part of the Adobe Creative Suite 3 Production Premium software, a complete and integrated post-production package that would take longer than this whole article to explain fully. But perhaps Adobe’s most significant announcement affecting postproduction and almost everything else is their new Adobe Media Player. It just may do for portable video files what Adobe Acrobat Reader did for the printed word. Media 100 will be seen with their new version 12.5 software, notably the fifth major release since Boris FX bought them in 2005. That’s a whole lotta code writing! The new Media 100 version 12.5 release expands on the system’s tapeless workflow acquisition options and finishing capabilities with support for HDV formats and multi-channel audio input, This release will also introduce a new DV-only package called Media 100 Associate Producer.
I’d like to be able to tell you about the new 64-bit version of Sony Creative Software’s Vegas Pro 8 NLE, but at press time it was only confirmed to be shown at their Monday night User Group event. If the additional computing power of 64-bit is as productive as it is expected to be, I’ll tell you about it after the show. www.thomsongrassvalley.com Vinten www.vinten.com
