The third annual South Dakota Film Festival will run from Friday, September 18th until Sunday, September 20th in Aberdeen, S.D. The festival features more than 30 films from across the nation, a film-set demonstration, Discussions in the Round and two afterglow parties. Academy Award winner Kevin Costner is also scheduled to make multiple appearances. Costner, who's attendance was arranged by the Northern Route to the Black Hills Tourism Association, will speak at the opening session, hold an autograph session at the Native American Cultural Center and Museum, participate in a filmmaker and student Discussion in the Round and attend various parties and fundraisers.“To commemorate the 20th anniversary of Dances With Wolves, we invited Costner to share his perspective on the filmmaking experience and discuss his interest in South Dakota and the Native American Culture,” said Northern Route to the Black Hills Tourism Association Executive Director Lanni Zephier Smith. “He’s played a very important role in advancing the film industry in South Dakota.
