NBC Studios
Looking to the future, Burbank city officials are speculating over who might be moving into the current NBC facility, since the network will be moving to Universal Studios in 2011. Regardless of who comes in, they will undergo careful scrutiny due to a development agreement in 1997 between NBC and Burbank, which designated that 35 acre property for a single user studio. The facility has several office buildings, sound stages and ample parking lot space. It is only a few miles from the Bob Hope Airport and freeways, with numerous industry services in the surrounding area. City officials hope to land a single user, ala NBC, to mitigate traffic problems. Burbank is a leading entertainment industry city, with NBC, Warner Bros., Disney and ABC based there. Assistant City Manager Michael Flad estimates more than 700 auxiliary production companies as well. Indiana Jones Comes to Fresno
The Fresno Film & Entertainment Commission (FFEC) recently hosted location professionals to spotlight Fresno’s unique locations and promote filming in and around the city. The group’s tour included Chandler Airport which was used as a location for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, reports FFEC commissioner Ray Arthur. |
