Filming in San Diego: Film Alert! We need your help!

 I have good news and bad news.  The good news is that SDFC Deputy Film Commissioner Rob Dunson is negotiating with Lions Gate for a new television series for San Diego that would appear on Spike TV.  Rob, having been a producer for Stu Segall before working for the Film Commission, is very good at knowing how to work with producers.  He is skilled in budgeting, locations and all the other areas important in satisfying a producer, so San Diego will work! 

As you probably know from me babbling about this before, there are three things that bring production to any City.  First is budget, which means the producer needs to meet his budget and not go over with too many expenses and fees, etc.  

Secondly, the location must work for the story and third, the infrastructure must be in place.  That means hotels, experienced crews and talent, related services and the cooperation of government. 

The bad part of this wonderful opportunity is finding a difficult location which is necessary to land this show.  Lions Gate has developed a story inspired by Animal House.  They need an empty school or something that can “play” as a school.  For example, we have played the exterior of the Convention Center as an airport.  If you know of something you think will work for us please e-mail your suggestion to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it in care of Rob Dunson.  Any information would be helpful.  Since this will be a series and needs the location for several days a week for many months, empty is best.  Remember we represent City, County and Port.
