New York, US - 23 July, 2008 - IndiePix, the Internet-based distributor of independent films, has announced the appointment of leading film professional, Ryan Harrington, to head up its new online studio for independent filmmakers. IndiePix Studios is the world's first virtual studio for independent filmmakers and provides a major new production and distribution outlet. Ryan Harrington will be responsible for overseeing all of the filmmaker relations as well as managing the productions which IndiePix has invested in - by taking on executive producer responsibilities. In addition, he will coordinate the DVD and digital acquisitions and help to develop individual and tailored distribution strategies for movies submitted. Ryan will also oversee film sales and acquisitions to broadcasters both domestically and internationally.

Ryan brings significant industry experience to the role, with extensive production credentials including Emmy winning programmes "Stars on Ice", "Horatio Hornblower" and "Shackleton". Ryan has also overseen production for A&E IndieFilms, the feature documentary arm of A&E Network. Whilst there, he championed the Oscar-nominated films "Murderball" and "Jesus Camp"; the Sundance hits "My Kid Could Paint That" and "American Teen" (in theaters July 2008); Barbara Kopple's "Bearing Witness" and the Tribeca 2007 film "Alexis Arquette: She's My Brother".

Bob Alexander, President of IndiePix, commented: "Over the last year, we have invested heavily in the technology needed to support our organization and really establish IndiePix within the independent film and distribution industry. We pride ourselves on being at the forefront of alternative and creative forms of distribution and IndiePix Studios is the first of its kind solely for independent filmmakers. With his proven track-record and impressive experience in the film and production industry, Ryan Harrington will play a pivotal role in supporting our filmmakers and sales expansion."

"The independent film industry is going through a challenging period, with many important changes taking place. When leading independent film companies are laying people off and shutting up shop, it is really encouraging that organizations like IndiePix are still working hard to champion the independent film cause," commented Ryan Harrington, Head of IndiePix Studios. "Over the last couple of years I have watched IndiePix grow and build an established name for itself in the industry. It really is an inspiring company to be a part of and for it to be able to offer something new to the market is both interesting and exciting."

Ryan Harrington will continue to be involved in the Gucci Tribeca Documentary Fund - a finishing fund that supports films about social issues missing from the mainstream media. He also serves on the board of Hot Docs, the Canadian international documentary film festival.
