Kodak has announced it is accepting submissions for two different competitions - the EASTMAN Scholarship program and the KODAK Film School Competition - that are part of the company's extensive and ongoing educational initiatives with film schools and students throughout the world.

The 2009 EASTMAN Scholarship program is open to accredited film schools in the United States, Canada, and - for the first time - participating countries in Latin America. Schools are welcome to submit a maximum of two student candidates who will be judged on a combination of their past work, faculty recommendations, and academic achievement. The judging is conducted by a panel that includes two noted cinematographers and a representative from the University Film and Video Foundation (UFVF), which serves as a co-sponsor.

There are five prizes, ranging from the Gold prize of $5,000 in KODAK motion picture film with a $1,000 cash award to two $2,000 KODAK motion picture film grants for Honorable Mention. The 2009 winners will be announced and the awards presented at the 63rd University Film and Video Association (UFVA) Conference, held this year at the University of New Orleans from August 4 through 8.

Kodak is also accepting entries for the 2009 KODAK Film School Competition. Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the program is open to students and recent film school graduates from Asia Pacific, Latin America, the United States and Canada, as well as the European region. This competition is open to anyone who is currently or has been a film school student within the past year, was cinematographer on a project produced entirely by a student crew, and shot it on Kodak film. Local judges select finalists at the national level, and those films then compete for top honors at the regional level where they are judged by an acclaimed cinematographer.

The grand prize includes a trip to the 2010 Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival in France, where the regional winners have the option to screen their work and the winning filmmakers participate in seminars and other activities hosted by Kodak.
